Civilizations like Rome and America come at the pinnacle of great human achievements. For Rome, it was the culmination of independent city states and populations to create a militaristically conglomerated state that is praised and mirrored for centuries after its fall.

Later, in America, we have created a multiethnic and multicultural society bound by self-government and our fascination with tangible and intangible frontiers. We are at the center of humanity’s collective embrace of technology and the global community, even through past hardship.

I’m rehashing the History of Rome podcast over this holiday and just thought of a positive outlook for all of the Roman Empire comparisons we get today. At the end of the day, it’s human history not Roman or American exclusively.
